Steering Committee – Responsibilities & Composition

Primary Responsibilities & Function:

  • Plan/facilitate AMBC annual meetings & follow-up actions
  • Develop, refine, and implement AMBC organization & development (processes;
  • foundational documents; subcommittees and Working Groups)
  • Work with AMBC partners to weigh and finalize decisions on behalf of the AMBC
  • Support AMBC Working Groups (guidance, communications, follow-ups)
  • AMBC Communications/Info Sharing (website, listserv, partner accomplishments, liase w/partner meta orgs – e.g., World Seabird Union)

Composition:
The Steering Committee will comprise a maximum of EIGHT members made
up of:

  • (I) AMBC Coordinator – ONE coordinator; standing (no term limit)
  • (II) Active Working Group Coordinators – Lead of each AMBC Working Group.
    No more than SIX, and no fewer than THREE; standing (no term limit)
  • (III) At-large Members – No more than FOUR, and no fewer than TWO; Twoyear term, unless unopposed

Representation:
Steering Committee members should be representative of the geographic
focus and organizational make-up of AMBC members as a whole.
